If you know Gray Chillin, you know when we say ‘Military’ Leaders, we really mean ARMY Leaders! However, in all seriousness, all leaders across the military are exemplary when it comes to setting the example, because they simply set the ‘standard’ for the greater cause of an organization.
Non-military leaders such as professional athletes understand this concept very well. For example, an NFL quarterback leads his team by being in shape, readily available, cognizant of play recognition, and displays communication skills to motivate and inspire his teammates for optimal success. In the business world, not every leadership role is as transparent as someone making $60M playing on national television for 17 weeks for a city desperate for a championship in the 21st Century (not just Dallas).
Whether the store manager for a furniture department, or the lead cashier of a fast food restaurant, setting the example by setting the standard and living it by it may not come easy, but here are a few key bullet points to follow (only if you want to make your workplace a meaningful place to work):
- Be the first person to Show at your place of business
- Build Empathetic Connections to your Co-Workers
- Maintain Clean and Proper Grooming Standards
- Ensure cleanliness of Uniform
- Be the Last One to Leave
